DOGS NAILS THE HORROR OF IT ALL

Going for walks with your furry friend together, hard surfaces such as the hard surfaces will naturally wear your dog’s nails down, so you may not have to cut them. However, if your dog’s nails aren’t keeping short, their untrimmed nails can crack, bleed or even grow into their feet, causing them a lot of pain and discomfort. If your furry friend is a senior, walking on long dog nails can cause extreme pain if they suffer from arthritis and other health problems paw related

 Clipping your dogs nails

If your dog is a bit nervous, stressed or upset  having his nails cut, or  tries to bite you, do not clip his/her nails yourself, its far too stressful for both of you.
Most veterinary practices have clinics where dog nail clipping can be done easily and but this is not cheap! However clipping your dogs nails by a qualified vet can relieve you of the pressure of attacking the problem yourself as a nervous owner can make a nervous dog.   This is seriously true if his nails are very long, have overgrown into the pad, or if you are alone. Trying to do it alone for the first time can be tricky for anyone!

The best way to have your dogs nails clipped is to take the dog to a qualified Dog Groomer, he or she is well practised at clipping dogs nails and it literally can take minutes to clip all four paws on your dog.

The worst thing that can happen to your dog is if you attempt it yourself and you cut through the dogs vein which is embedded in the middle of the nail, and which extends downwards towards the tip. If you cut this vein on your dog be prepared for a very long bleeding session which if not taken care of can become infected and you will have alot more vets bills then you wished for.
